We’re often asked by customers if we can visually inspect the timing belt to determine if it needs replacing. Unfortunately, timing belts often give no warning signs before failing—and when they do, the damage can be severe. A failed timing belt can cause catastrophic engine damage, including bent valves, damaged pistons, or complete engine failure.

Contrary to popular belief, timing belts rarely snap. Instead, the teeth that grip and drive the belt tend to wear down over time, making failure sudden and unpredictable.
